CCleaner combines a junk file remover, registry scanner, and other tools.

Temporary files are created by almost all Windows programs. With time, these unwanted files can amount to occupy several gigabytes of your hard drive space.

A similar problem can occur with invalid Windows registry entries. CCleaner allows you to remove all these items, as it is the combination of a Junk File Remover, Registry Scanner, History Cleaner, and other tools.

History Cleaner can work with web browsers, media players, and several other applications. I love its clutter-free and easy-to-use interface. Unlike other programs, it doesn’t show annoying popup messages.

You will also find such interesting tools as the BHO remover, which can delete add-ons and toolbars from Internet Explorer, Firefox, and other browsers within CCleaner. This option is available under the “Startup” section, where, you may change the Windows startup items, context menu entries, and scheduled programs.

CCleaner also features a Duplicate File Remover, and Windows System Restore Manager. Secure File-Eraser can wipe out entire hard disk volumes so that no one can recover any deleted file.

Since all these features are available within a freeware app, CCleaner is pretty much an unavoidable tool for any Windows PC user.

Nice & very good program

Have full version, very good product! Could have more features for system optimisation though, like offering a driver update package (like it gives recuva e.g separately), though it is excellent for what it does.

Bjorn I, no way on using CCleaner to update drivers. I did that two years ago (in 2021) on a laptop with Windows 10 and one of the driver updates through the program caused BSOD. Being I was not doing driver updates individually myself, I never could figure out which driver update in particular caused it but it took me all weekend to even get to the point where I could even reinstall the OS because Windows 10 required administrator and WiFi access. But the WiFi was knocked out so I could not sign in and verify my credentials. It's a miracle the laptop did not need professional repair. I steer clear of ever even clicking driver update on newer versions of CCleaner. In fact, after what happened I prefer using older versions now before it was a feature. I would just like to see it removed entirely after this experience. Otherwise, CCleaner is an excellent program.
