This is truly an incredible utility that comes for free! The cleaning capability of CrapCleaner can easily match that of overtly priced cleaning tools advertised on the internet. Not only does it clean up unused and junk files from your computer, but it also has a complete Registry cleaner.
A clear-cut user interface shows a list of things it can clean out. You can check/uncheck each item in the list. From Internet Explorer and Mozilla Firefox, it can clear out History, Recent URLs, auto complete info, cookies, temp files, and all other private data you wish to remove. Temp files and recent entries can be deleted from applications like Photoshop, Nero, Office and others. Any personal data from Windows OS can be removed – like recent documents, run menu, search menu, clipboard, temp files, memory dumps, log files, shortcuts, and much more. Other popular third party applications like Yahoo are supported too.
The Registry cleaner is complete in itself. An integrity scan throws up the possible issues affecting your registry. Missing shared DLLs, unused file extensions, invalid files, files that were unable to be removed by uninstall programs, orphaned entries, obsolete keys, missing references and any other junk can be safely resolved. A backup of the registry is taken before any changes are done, so if anything goes wrong you can revert back to the original.
A lot of us have faced problems with the Windows uninstaller when some programs simply refuse to uninstall. The uninstaller provided in this application takes care of that problem. And if you don’t want some applications from starting up with Windows so that boot up is speeded up, there’s a tool available that can disable or permanently delete them from the registry. This is much like the MSConfig tool built in Windows, but with additional capability.
All in all, a fantastic application.
